"This is a bit of a confused mess really what the word literate here should be saying is experienced or knowledgeable and again if you just make that substitution," he says. "Now he's redefining literacy for everyone and now has some more jargon because he talks about the other semiotic domains and then lifts it to this really weird level of analysis where he says everything is culturalNothing is cognitive well he doesn't quite say that but he says we should really be thinking about things culturally and not cognitively which I think is the wrong level of analysis in terms of primary levels so yeah I mean basically that's the trick that's what this book is doing."
