Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy does occur, but it just looks to be a transient part of the entire process, physiologically. The splitting of individual myofibros could end up with smaller myofipros for a short period of time. That's potentially as a result of creating a lot of smaller myofopros in strength training programs.
