The Importance of Storytelling

I think as a journalist, you're after the narrative. You go from one place to another to another and you want a story. When you're dealing with people's lives and brains and emotions and feelings and sensations, sometimes there is no easy answer. Sometimes it takes a long time to get somewhere and sometimes there may not be resolution when you expect it. It might come later. So I think sort of being down in the dirty stuff is really, really important. Exploring them can be dark and painful and messy and dirty but that's most important.
