The Effects of Deloading on Bodybuilding Performance

The goal of our study was to gain some insights into the effects of deloading using protocols more in line with what you typically see in the real world. We took 39 men and women with an average training of experience of like about four years and placed them into one of two groups either a deload group who trained for four weeks straight or a traditional group that just trained continuously for the entire nine week period. Participants performed two upper body workouts that were unsupervised but they logged those workouts and sent them to us so we could be sure that they were adhering to the program. They also assessed muscle thickness of the quads and calves as well as one arm strength isometric strength
