The Role of Protein in Body Composition
The RDA for proteins about 0.8 grams per kilogram is ludicrously low, because this was actually developed based on the understanding that protein was a substrate for structural tissues but not with an understanding that protein is also involved in enzymes and all these other things that are important to our physiology. Even when people are having more than double the RDA for protein intake, you can increase lean tissue as in muscle without any change in training. And it's very physiologically hard to confer protein to fat tissue. It's not impossible, but it's a very melabolically challenging thing to do.
