By six at four, the child doesn't have enough of a attention span to listen to an audiobook by himself for an hour. By six, that can probably be a reasonable expectation. And so put the younger children down for naps that gives everyone a break and the older children have reading time. The idea is the child chooses the book to read and there's simply an environment where that's what everyone is doing.
