Alcibiades's Love for Socrates Becomes the Most Beautiful
Nica gives an account of the whole progression of the symposium in the central roll that the alcibiades speech plays in it. Phaedrus is, as elsewhere, only the midwife of the successive speeches. Finally, socrates himself reaches the rung that diotoma designates as the highest love of the beautiful itself. We do not doubt that he has reached it.
