The History of Mapparity
Mapparity was developed in 1939 by chemists in Germany and rose to prominence in the 1940s internationally as an alternative pain medication and anesthetic to morphine. Hannah: How did this medication end up with this place in medical history and something that physicians have used for a long time to treat rikers? The drug has fallen out of favor, but it's very rarely used for that indication anymore. "I could probably count on less than one hand at the times that I've used mapparity," she says.
