The Origins of the Flying Movement
Steve Swink says he tweaked the movement code for Mario 64. The game used to be an rts at one point it's really hard to do platforming pathfinding if you have a side scrolling and has like gravity so they had jetpack in there. He gives his thoughts on some of the design decisions that led up to the game field book in Mario 64. It was kind of embarrassing how much Andy said oh there's such great designers so they have like thought about it because we've been working on this project for years.
