Jay Alabaster says that whale meat now gets maybe one third or even less the price it used to sell for. Whale is served across Japan and has regional varieties, such as fried whale. Even if you don't eat whale, you may not want whale hunting to end in Japan. In broader Japan, there is no question that outside pressure has given a huge boost to whaling.
