Sarter was one of the first to strike a blow against fardianism, but it hasn't survived. The theory says there are occasions for every human being in which they encounter situations that call upon them in an imperative way to respond caringly or helpfully. Sarter: We do have times when the humanity of others falls upon our humanity. And we either yield to it, and in the gospel context, we yield to the light of christ, or we refuse to. But we can't just let it alone and walk away, as if it were a flavor of dessert that we didn't want to order at the restaurant because we don't like the taste of those things.
