How Do You Mentally Prepare for Problem Sets?

How do you mentally prepare to face problem sets with limited resources? And it's one that we don't spend enough time working on. I would fly up there, often get diverted because a fog have to either rent a car an hour and a half away or a hitchhiked once from Oregon to get to my shift in time. Then drink coffee all the way through my shift and try and sleep as much of the day as I possibly could before going into work. The avoidance of circadian stimulators post-shift is one of the main things I'm getting people entrained onto.
