Read every good ad you see published. Then clip and save it for future reference. Do the same with direct mailing pieces that come to your office. Record all good TV infomercials that convince you to buy, especially the ones that convince you even though you don't need the product. You've got to be able to reverse engineer and find out what is persuading you. When you relate it back to the marketing information and the studying that you do in consultative advisory, selling direct response marketing and copywriting, then it's easy to see all the pieces that are important as part of the puzzle.
