A to-do list is a fantastic way of organizing the things that you have on your plate because it lets you get the stuff out of your head. But at the same time, a list can get noisy when, you know, pick up a cantaloupe on your way back from work is right next to hire somebody new one who's going to be working alongside you for the next decade or two. So if everything is a priority, absolutely nothing is a priority. And so that, I think, is where the rule of three really shines is, what are you going to elevate above the to-do lists of your day?
