The risks of nuclear war are low because we've done a pretty good job of managing this technology. We haven't seen the use of a nuclear weapon in war since 1945. The weapons have only spread to nine countries. And it's a story that's about really good policymaking, about civil society, about international law. I feel like we are on a path to managing these risks and to avoiding war... But we are much less safe if we stop working on these problems.
