Freud's Model of the Psyche
Jung sees the psyche as a self-organizing dynamical system ultimately as an auto-proetic being. Jung gives a psychological analog of Plato's idea of the form, a structural functional organization. The archetypes are therefore very much psychological versions of the platonic forms. They are virtual engines that regulate the self-organization of what is salient to us.
