MMA Training - Is There a Change in Training?
The study that we did around the internal load of training, the main thing that we found from that was that over the eight weeks that we observed a group of 14 MMA factors there wasn't any change in their internal load or their fatigue. And even more telling was that seven of them just from dumb luck, seven of them happened to fight during that period and seven of them didn't. There was no tapering, there was no change in intensity or changing load for these factors. They were just doing the same things everyone else and then the week of competition, it just dropped off completely.
