The Aversion to Quitting in the American Environment

The aversion to quitting is common across different geographies and cultures. Is there something about the American environment that makes it particularly salient here? We don't want to leave a job because we say, I've put so much time into it. These are very well replicated findings over about half a decade of scientific research.
