Neurogenesis in Rodents

If you give the animal an antidepressant, like a classic drug that relieves depression in humans, the animals actually spend more time swimming. They also show increased rates of neurogenesis which interestingly depended on the presence of some of those growth factors I was telling you about earlier. It seems that making new neurons is somehow linked to mood and anxiety.
