The IFS process revises a belief to make it so the exile just isn't in as much pain. It's like if you're dealing with a manager, you might revise the belief of like, oh, whenever this XL is in pain, I need to jump in and save it. The only way I knew how to hold that previously was just by feeling guilty about it. But now, I'm a more mature ego structure and I think I have better ways to handle that.
