In this limited series we're looking at the legacy of the war in Iraq 20 years after the US-led invasion in March 2003. We'll start by looking at the road to war and the hopes that both Western politicians and many Iraqis had for the intervention before analyzing what went wrong. To help us unpack it all we'll hear from policymakers, security experts, military personnel, journalists and Iraqi citizens. Join us as we look back at one of the most significant military interventions in modern history and address how its legacy has defined global tensions and foreign policy today.
What happened in Iraq once the Americans and the British arrived? Why was the transfer of power a far from smooth operation? And what else went wrong in what should have been the mission for liberation?
In the second episode of this series Iraq: Legacy of War, brought to you by Intelligence Squared, host Manveen Rana, is joined again by Renad Mansour, director of the Iraq Initiative at Chatham House; and Clare Short, who was Secretary of State for International Development from 1997 to 2003.
