The Relationship Between Relative BMI and Mortality Rate

There was not a clear, no significant relationship between relative BMI and mortality rate in the NHANES cohort. The average BMI was around 28 or so. And again, survival time was around nine years on average. These results don't suggest that weight stigma is not real. But it does kind of challenge that more extreme claim that we discussed earlier that body fatness has no intrinsic health impact on health outcomes.
