The Role of Toxins in Infant Colonization
There was a component about the virulence of the C-diff strains that are in babies themselves. Non-toxicinic strains don't produce toxins and big surprise given their name. They don't cause colitis. So this tendency to have less virulent bacteria may play a role as well. But again, it seems to be really sort of a multi-factorial situation that culminates in this protection.
