The Static Spacer Is a Surgical Choice

The answer is probably very institution specific but we've been seeing a lot of them. In general the static spacers are for patients who have had multiple prior surgeries, many prior complications and the static spacer is sort of one last attempt to try to eradicate the infection and get the soft tissue envelope to heal appropriately. Yeah, those cases are always tough. I remember walking into those patient rooms and you feel for them.
