The NMDA Receptor and Long-Term Potentiation

The NMDA receptor is a key part of forming memories. It's been studied very well in the hippocampus, a major center where long-term memories are stored. Long-term potentiation means that you maybe not permanently necessarily, but permanently or semi-perminently or at least long-term, you increase certain synapses to strengthen them.
