When you're getting paid on a 1099, you're in business for yourself. Most LOCUM gigs are set up to be contracting and it's going to be the hospital paying you. An S-corp might save you close to $10,000 a year in taxes. It sounds like you got confused between somebody trying to do something else with a corporation that probably didn't make any sense.
