The study of fear is so messy. There's no like discipline in any academic institution around fear. A fear ump sometimes is looked at in the psychological genre. Sometimes it can be in sociology or biology. Am, this idea called fear appeals - a powerful persuasion tool that we have over used and now everyone's freaking out because we're trained to be scared all the time.

Every day, your brain tries to save your life by being terrified. Thanks, brain! Also, calm the f*ck down, brain. In 2018, Alie hunted down Mary Poffenroth, an expert in the biological and sociological causes/effects of fear -- and it is riveting. This December, Time Magazine named Ologies a top podcast and recommended this episode specifically.
