The Model Health Show: How Sleep Deprivation Can Increase Loss of Muscle Mass

Being sleep deprived increased their loss of fat-free body mass, primarily from their muscle by 60%. Being sleep deprived was effectively burning off their muscle tissue. One of the things that helps us to defend our bodies against the loss of muscle is to proactively focus on building healthy muscle and not engaging in activities like repeatedly sleep depriving ourselves. These are three simple principles that are foundational to addressing our obesity epidemic.
