The Polyvagal Theory of Trauma and Inflammation

The polyvagal theory looks at how trauma is stored in our body. It's shifting the body into a sympathetic fight or flight stress state, their parasympathetic resting digesting is downregulated. Inflammation is not inherently bad, just like those gut microbiome, the bacteria, it's about balance. The brain is rich with these different histamine receptor sites which can throw up neurotransmitters and further raise inflammation levels in the body.
