What Are You Really Observing?

A lot of people when they observe this sort of hang around at the back. They take some notes, they write down what the teacher's doing. I don't do that at all. It's about investigating the effect of a teacher action. What's the effect on the students? And you can test that so easily just by asking. In 90% of classrooms up and down the country, a check for understanding is not happening. This is stuff that I don't see everywhere I go in play - let's examine it!
