The invasion of Ukraine by Russia was a watershed for me. I saw the belly of the beast on the propaganda machine, but I also had the nuance to be able to differentiate at the time. There's this kind of an acknowledgement that disinformation is a term that governments most certainly use to their benefits. People aren't equipped to differentiate with those things because people use heuristics to decide what's true and not true.
