During World War II, the US government rationed red meat in order to feed its soldiers. By the end of the war, there was so much demand for meat that chicken was also taken by the U.S. government. The post-war period saw a huge growth in chicken production and consumption.
Americans love beef, and always have. But when it comes to the meat they actually choose to eat, chicken takes the crown.
