The most fundamental thing about roguelikes is their turn base. Spelunky does not have the like exponentially growing tree of possibilities that makes you feel overwhelmed and have to start relying on heuristics in spelunky there just aren't that many things to do. If you remove 70 percent of the rules of net hack would it still be a roguelike? I think what the argument Regan's making which I think is a decent one is that it's an ecosystem uh kind of diversity issue. We don't want to lose this history this really specific community making these weird ASCII complicated turn-based games. Maybe that gets a little lost when that name kind of gets blurrier with
