The Role of Free Fatty Acids in Diabetes
Excess lipolysis, excess free fatty acids in the blood trigger the periphery to become insulin resistant. There's actually a very fascinating condition called Dunnegan familial lipodistrophe. People with this can get very fat on very low calories or they're it's really fascinating. They have increased rates of cardiovascular disease with no increased levels of LDL. The dysfunction at the level of our fat cells is what causes diabetes.
