Christmas Caroling on the Island

The most traditional christmas spread was always a pernile, or roast pork. Pasteles are a kind of root vegetable tamale that is very similar to dishes that i've seen all over island communities. The banana leaf also infuses the soro with this earthy flavor and then you've got all that stuff inside it. Em o: I'm so funand and loving and such a sense of community in portorico.
