Sex and Sexuality Is a Fundamental Part of Selfhood

The article of faith almost is that your sexuality is intrinsically linked to your selfhood. The old sexual codes of celibacy outside marriage and chastity within it are considered ridiculous and oppressive. No one today needs to be told that a movie with the title, the 40-year-old virgin, is a comedy. To be sexually inactive is to be a less than whole person, to be obviously unfulfilled or weird.
