The Key Aspects of a Systematic Approach to Assessment
In reception and year one, the things you're really looking for are spoken language development and decoding. If there seems to be fairly significant issues relating to spoken language, then this is where you would start to have conversations with your Senko. There are other things that a Senko will want to assess and look at relating to literacy and reading more specifically which go beyond this approach. This does not mean that this is everything that you do, this is systematic and pragmatic, but it's not comprehensive.
