Don't be scared of the word script. Make sure you're well rehearsed in what the possible outcomes are and how to say this. There is no wrong time to ask for referrals. Offer a free year-long membership to whoever brings in the most referrals. If having a referral form that your members can fill out anytime, become stale, or is not something you have enough human power to operate, just run a big giant prize.
