How Did You Get Your First Marathon?

When did you start becoming serious about running? And when did you sign up for your first marathon? This was in 2008. I ran the first one at the age of 18. It's a local marathon, which passes the village here. So it's quite a heavy one with some tunes and a lot of beaches. There's always wind, of course. Most of the time it's a head wind. But yeah, it all depends on the elements pretty much.
