Researchers in the UK followed almost 2,000 vegans and many more non-vegans for several decades. And they found that vegans had a higher risk of breaking bones than meat eaters. They tried to account for how much calcium the vegans were eating but even vegans who ate quite a lot was still more likely to break bones. It's possible that this broken bones thing actually doesn't have to do with their diet at all.
