How to Get Away With Dissociative Enthusiasm

JT Kearney, who was really influential in my coaching career, would call this dissociative enthusiasm. Being enthusiastic irrespective of what the situation was calling for is a negative reinforcement loop. I want to get your perspective on the balance of this because our natural tendency is we want to pump people up and make them feel good about themselves. But it's just that when you start fighting it, right? Then you're getting into this contingency where your mind is going, "I'm not super positive right now" And so we got to regulate that for the athlete and for yourself as well.
