The Challenge With AI
I think that there are a few different stories you can tell about the specific threat that AI poses to humanity. You could imagine AI tools helping bad actors who might want to develop super viruses, for example. Another problem I see is around a surveillance state and AI enabled authoritarianism. So my view is that we ought to be concerned about the direction AI may take us - even if you don't buy into this story of misaligned super intelligence.
