Originalists Are Political Conservatives, Right?
The first prominent originalist justice was hugo black. He thought the court was a way too conservative, he says. Originalists are sceptical about either the sot of current doctrine or moral views. But that logic wouldn't have applied back in 100 years ago. It's more likely to be people who want things to stay as they are.
