Tempest 7.1.4: A Refresher Course in Audio Processing
7.1.4 has been introduced with its 4 overhead speakers, but nothing really changes in the overall Tempest rendering strategy. The 36 ambisonic channels already include audio coming from all directions, including above the player. It is now possible that it can access these height channels on your stereo or AVR setup. But of course games that do not have 3D audio support naturally, they are not going to benefit from this as you would expect.
