Is Surgery a Failure of Rehab for Osteoarthritis?
JP: Our brain society is trained to go and see someone to help us fix a problem. For something like osteoarthritis where you need to actively manage this, you need to find yourself someone that can be a guide or a coach. And another point that is really important here is that often patients come to physio and they say, you know, you really don't want me to have surgery because for you that's like a failure of rehab. So it's important that people don't think they were just defending or going against surgery but it's a route that the patient should be presented with before they get to the end stage.
