The Wind Field of a D-C Nine
The strongest downward vertical winds below 300 feet were calculated to be ten to 20 feet per second. The airplane encountered a wind shear seven to eight seconds after the mist approach was initiated. Computations indicate that during final descent, the wind along the flight path changed significantly.
