I'd Like to Start the Interview With This Vignett

Two weeks every fall, all third grade classes participate in a unit on apples. In language arts, they read about johnny appleseed and view an illustrated film strip of the story. They each write a creative story involving an apple, and then illustrate their stories using tempera paints. The music teacher teaches the children songs about apples. A high light of the unit is a field trip to the local apple orchard where students watch cider being made and go on a hay ride.
