The Effects of Stress on Physiological Responses

The typical protocol is that we get people nice and relaxed, we stress them. We say, look, you're starting in the first team this afternoon or you're playing against this particular opponent - then we'll see how they respond. But we're able to measure people's physiological responses. Two things of interest are cardiac output and total peripheral vascular resistance. And that reflects whether the blood vessels are dilated or whether they're constricted.
