The Origins of the House of Worth

Wurst was one of the very first fashion designers to identify his work by sewing in labels, bearing his name into his garments. He installed various types of artificial light in specific showrooms so clients could see how his clothes would look under natural versus artificial light. Wurst created specialized ateliers within the house where workers only performed their designated task before the garment was passed along to the subsequent atelier for their specialty. This allowed him to greatly speed up the pace of production.
