The Importance of Integrating the Experience

The brain has a normal way of processing our everyday experiences that we go through. And at night, when we have our REM sleep, our brain processes and puts away those experiences into our long-term memory storage. When something happens, that's too overwhelming that normal process in the brain breaks down. And the brain is no longer able to process those memories. They become what Monique calls "hot memories"
